The Gujarat government announced the implementation of the Motors Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, 2019 in the state with some relief in penalties on Tuesday.
Speaking to the media in Gandhinagar, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said that the new rules will be implemented in the state from September 16, adding that “the base rate for the fines will be lower than the one proposed by the Union government”.Rupani said that few days of window is being provided to people to help people to get their papers etc in order and the government too will carry out extensive awareness drive for the same and from September 16, the rules will be implemented strictly.Rupani further said that “the implementation will be done in a strict manner in order to ensure the safety of people. Further, citizens can present the required documents to the concerned office in a digital medium, i.e a person can keep a soft copy of his license and other documents saved in his/her mobile phone and when asked by the concerned officer, he/she can show the saved soft copy.
