The Lok Sabha on 23/07/2019 approved the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, 2019 which seeks to impose strict penalties on violation of traffic rules and address the dire state of road safety in the country.
The bill, which proposes to amend the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and increase the quantum of penalties for road offences, will now be tabled in the Rajya Sabha for approval.
